How To Learn From The Mistakes You Make

In this article I want to talk about mistakes. Most importantly about the mistakes that we make. No matter who you are, you make mistakes. Everybody does so first and foremost stop beating yourself up over your mistakes. In this article you will learn how to learn from the mistakes you make.

The best thing about parents, besides the love they give you, is that they can teach you so much. I remember my mother sitting me down when I was a teenager and talking to me about mistakes. She told me that she knew I was a good person who knew right from wrong, but she knew I would be making mistakes in life.

My parents were very lenient and didn't even put a curfew on me. They wanted me to make my own decisions and learn from them if I messed up. If I did mess up, they wouldn't punish me, they would sit me down and make me realize I had messed up and apologize for it. This made me take responsibility for my mistakes. Instead of grounding me or taking something away, they knew I had to take responsibility and learn from the mistakes.

Fortunately for me, I didn't have many of these talks with my parents about this. I was a good kid, but of course I had my rough patches. But I was able to learn from these mistakes and I haven't made them again, so clearly they did something right.

Now that I am grown, I still use the same approach when I make mistakes. I take responsibility and apologize if I must. I sit down and reflect on the mistake that I made and tell myself that it's OK because we all make mistakes, just keep doing your best. As long as I am doing my best and improving as a human being each and every day, then I'm doing good.

I have always been somebody who loves competing. I am very, very competitive and I don't like losing. I actually hate it with a passion, and this could be considered a fault of mine. But, I have had to accept that at times I will lose, which is fine. However, when I do lose, I ask myself what could I have done differently? What can I do next time to make sure I have a more positive result?

This is something you can use when you are looking back on your mistakes. Remember to forgive yourself first, and just do your best. That's all we can do because we all make mistakes and that's OK.
